Natural Joint Pain Relief

Overview

Joint pain has many causes, including arthritis, various conditions and injuries, and an inflammation of the bursae known as bursitis. The bursae are fluid-filled sacs that help to protect and cushion the bony parts of the body. There are many natural home remedies available that can help with the treatment of joint pain.

Bath

Taking a warm bath can be very beneficial to treating the pains that joint damage can cause. Massaging the area, in or out of the bathtub, can also be very helpful to relieve pain and relax the area. Use an oil to massage the area where the painful joint is located.

Drinks

To help with joint pain, you can make a tea out of papaya seed. Drinking the tea six times a day for about three weeks can help to reduce joint pain. Drink 1/2 tsp. of turmeric powder with a glass of warm water three times a day. Another home remedy drink is to take 1 tsp. of turmeric and add it to hot milk. Carrot juice, apple cider vinegar and, of course, water are also pain-relieving fluids.

Foods

Eating garlic cloves that are fried in butter have been claimed to be helpful in relieving joint pain. Other home remedies foods are chapatti made of roasted grams of flour with clarified butter, 2 tsp. of winter cherry with ghee and molasses as a porridge, and bananas.

Vitamins/Exercise

Taking vitamins and increasing your intake of oils that are rich in omega-3 fatty acids have been thought to be useful in joint pain treatment. Exercise is another home remedy that helps to increase flexibility in the joints. This helps to strengthen the bones and reduce joint pain. Exercising in water can help to take the pain out of exercising.

Compresses

Using hot and cold compresses on the affected area can help to decrease joint pain. Alternate from hot to cold, leaving each compress on the painful area for about 20 minutes each. You should feel some relief shortly after alternating the compresses for about an hour.
