Monica's thoughts on wellness...
More sleep leads to all things good
I don't know if that's exactly true, but there are 3 new sleep studies that certainly reinforce how important sleep is. The New York Times article discusses about 2 studies that point to a viscious circle between sleep and the quality of one's marriage.

It seems that poor sleep led the married couple to describe their marriage in less positive terms. And similarly, when marriages were strained, women slept poorly. That's not too surprising.

Another Sleep Study I read about recently (thanks to fellow twitterer @sweatscience ) monitored the quantity of sleep compared to tennis player's performance. This Stanford Study extended the players nightly sleep time up to 10 hours (from 7 or 8 hours) and their performance improved.

"...faster sprinting drill (approximately 19.12 seconds at baseline versus 17.56 seconds at end of sleep extension), increased hitting accuracy including valid serves (12.6 serves compared to 15.61 serves), and hitting depth drill (10.85 hits versus 15.45 hits)."

And we all know from experience that more sleep means less grumpy kids. So now, the only trick is to figure out how to get it!

Hi Monica,

You have had a great vacation with your family. I want to say something about sleeping. I strongly agree that sleeping helps building us up in many ways. I believe lot of things that sleeping can give. One thing am sure of, that sleeping gives fine skin, additional strength and many others. Lack of sleep can change our mood towards others and our daily works. it is very important to have a good rest.

Sleep well everyone!
